Hi friends! Moe here. Do y’all love BBQ as much as Tink does? BBQ Chicken, BBQ Pork, BBQ Beef, BBQ Burgers, if you can cook it, Tink would be happy to smear BBQ sauce all over it! As for me, I can’t say that I’m as big a fan as Tink is, but I do like it every now and then. If we eat a BBQ meal of some sort, I’m good for a few weeks whereas he is ready for it again the next day! Who knows, maybe he shoulda been a cowboy. (Que Toby Keith here!)
Recently, as part of mine and Deb’s effort to cook a recipe from all 50 states, Deb found this awesome BBQ Sauce recipe to represent the beautiful state of Kansas. She found this Kansas Style BBQ Sauce recipe over on Hey Grill Hey. (If you like to grill, you need to check out her website for lots of great grillin’ recipes.) The night we made it and posted the video to our Facebook, I knew I was going to have to make this yummy sauce for Tink, so last week, I did. We used it on a beef roast I had cooked in the crock pot. He loved it and I know you will too!
First, gather your ingredients. You’ll need:
14 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 cup ketchup
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup molasses
1 T smoked paprika
1 T salt
2 tsp cracked black pepper
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp ground mustard

Next, Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Whisk to combine well then bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low to simmer.
Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and cool completely before transferring to an airtight container.
This sauce can be used immediately but is even better if you refrigerate overnight. The sauce will last 2 weeks in the refrigerator if sealed tightly in an airtight container.
