Old Fashion Banana Pudding

Old Fashioned Banana Pudding

A Classic Delight

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 Cups of Sugar
  • 1 (12 oz) Can Evaporated Milk
  • 1 1\2 Cup Whole Milk
  • 6 T All Purpose Flour
  • 4 Egg Yolks, Well Beaten
  • 4 T Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 5 Bananas
  • 1 Box Vanilla Wafers

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, both milks and flour over medium heat. Continue stirring until beginning
  2. to thicken (enough to stick to the back of your spoon). Stir continuously to keep from sticking/burning, approximately 15 minutes.
  3. Slowly add the egg yolks to the milk mixture a little at a time. Stir constantly. Add the yolks 1 – 2 Tablespoons at a time.
  4. Remove completely from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla.
  5. In a separate dish, begin assembling the banana pudding (9X13 dish is recommended).
  6. Assemble in the following order ending with wafers on top – custard – wafers – bananas – Repeat.
  7. Cover and chill. Overnight is best, but at least 3 – 4 hours.

Add Meringue To Top It Off

Ingredients

  • 4 Egg Whites
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp Cream of Tarter
  • 6 T Sugar

Directions

  1. Whip egg whites with vanilla, cream of tarter and sugar for 3-5 minutes to stiff peaks.
  2. Top pudding then broil in oven until toasted.
