Texas Sheet Cake
Ingredients
- CAKE
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 stick butter
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp vanilla
- FROSTING
- 5 T milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 T butter
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350. Spray sheet pan with cooking spray.
- To make cake, combine flour and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan heat water, butter and cocoa powder over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
- Remove pan from heat and begin adding flour mixture a little at a time, stirring after each addition. Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, vanilla and salt. Mix well.
- Pour into cookie sheet pan. Bake 22-23 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Remove and col for 10 minutes before icing.
- For frosting, place milk, cocoa powder and butter into a large microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high until butter is melted.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
- Spread over warm cake. Cut into squares and enjoy! Store in refrigerator in an air tight container.
