Ingredients

  • CAKE
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • FROSTING
  • 5 T milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 T butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray sheet pan with cooking spray.
  2. To make cake, combine flour and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan heat water, butter and cocoa powder over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove pan from heat and begin adding flour mixture a little at a time, stirring after each addition. Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, vanilla and salt. Mix well.
  5. Pour into cookie sheet pan. Bake 22-23 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Remove and col for 10 minutes before icing.
  6. For frosting, place milk, cocoa powder and butter into a large microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high until butter is melted.
  7. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
  8. Spread over warm cake. Cut into squares and enjoy! Store in refrigerator in an air tight container.
